A special thanks to Lesley DuTemple for helping to bring Geralyn and Avijit to the Keweenaw. We would also like to thank the Visiting Women & Minority Lecturer/Scholar Series for the grant that helped finance their trip, and, of course, so many thanks to Geralyn and Avijit for making the long trek and sharing their work and experiences with us. Alison Crockett, Christopher Plummer, Roger Held, Betty Chavis and Diane Shoos have been invaluable collaborators as we try to expand our cinematic terrain at Michigan Tech, as have all the members of the new video enterprise team, Cin/Optic Media.

Many thanks to Karen Snyder who keeps the organizers alerted to scheduling and location issues throughout the year and makes everything run smoothly, as well as to the crew that creates our festival space. Much appreciation goes to Kim Puuri, Carol Johnson, Sue Niemi and Marjorie Lindley for all of their help with purchases, budgets and paperwork.

Thanks to Joe Kirkish for all of his efforts over the years to keep film art alive and well in our remote community, and to George Desort for his enthusiasm and generosity (not to mention his own wonderful work).

Jan Curtis shared the northern lights photograph used in the banner. More of these stunning photographs can be found at: http://climate.gi.alaska.edu/Curtis/aurora/aurora.html

Most importantly, thanks to all the filmmakers for pursuing their artistic vision and for making their work available to us Yoopers.
