There was a time in the past when I could have almost call myself as a cookbook hoarder. I did not only purchased cookbooks only because of the exciting new recipes, I did it sometimes purely based on the beautiful illustrations and photographs. Illustrations have a long history with cookbooks making them more accessible and enjoyable.
Before photographs, hand-drawn illustrations went hand-in-hand with the recipes. One of the most legendary cookbook with these kind of illustrations is Amy Vanderbilt‘s Complete Cookbook which is illustrated by Andrew Warhol (yes, THAT Andy Warhol!).
