Pinterest Crafting: Not Gone Wrong

I have only ever seen one person actually sit down and read a cookbook. These days a recipe is not normally found through flipping through the pages, but through browsing the pages of the Internet, using a specific tool: Pinterest. This tool is a cornucopia of information that is commonly used to formulate people’s own unique cookbook, all online. This changes the traditional frame of the cookbook or even online blogs and websites. The change is due to the fact that the users or “pinners” can collect recipes from all of these frames and store them in one location, entering them into an entirely new frame. They can craft their own cookbook. The original context is still there when someone clicks on the link; however, their context within the pinner’s collection is different. For example, a recipe could be grouped with certain items within its original blog, but a pinner could put it in a new category or it could be identified as something new in comparison to the other pins in its collection or “board.”

Although it adds a new dimension to the cookbook and where you get recipes, Pinterest adds to the movement of recipes being online. I have found unique blogs and websites related to food through pinning their recipes on Pinterest. Not only can it be its own frame, but it in turn adds to theirs.
