The real deal

What’s in the freezer of three international student-athletes at Michigan Tech?

25 frozen Roma pizzas ($1.50 dollars each, tax included) . Not very healthy, right? But with two part time jobs, 18 credits and tennis season going on we’re not looking for healthy meals, we’re looking for something that easy to cook, quick and, of course, cheap.

The importance of this story is not to reveal our nutrition secrets to the world, but to expose what some people might consider a problem by changing to frozen meals and other unhealthy options, like fast food. The pace with which we face every day dictates what we eat. On a busy day with 4 hours of classes, 4 hours of practice and homework, there seems to be no free time to spend in the kitchen cooking (or washing the dishes). And, with a considerable tuiton fee to be paid buying food in restaurantants or other locals seems not a smart choice in the daily routine.

Are there any other choices, besides the frozen meals? Yes, of course there are a lot of options to chose from. Are we making the right decision? Probably not.

For this price, are there other options out there? and the jackpot question: How to ballance them with a busy schedule?
